Louisiana Home Builders Announces New Senior Officers and Award Winners

January 29, 2013:  Louisiana Home Builders Association Installed new senior officers to lead the association in the 2013 year.  Among these new leaders is the president, Billy Ward of Brusly, Louisiana.  Billy is the CEO of Champion Builders, LLC located in Port Allen.  He has been an active member of the Home Builders Association locally, statewide and nationally for the past several years.   We are honored to have Billy as president of the organization.  He has been a critical component in the formation of the Louisiana Touchdown for Homes project in the Lower Ninth Ward.  LHBA, HBA of Greater New Orleans, NAHB, and the NFL Players Association have teamed up to rebuild the area previously devastated by Hurricane Katrina.  On February 1, 2013, the first phase of the project, including three brand new, energy efficient homes will be complete and presented at a ribbon cutting ceremony intended to kick-off Super Bowl XLVII weekend in New Orleans!  Without Billy’s determination, and the help of the others involved, we may never have gotten this project up and rolling.  We are looking forward to everything else Billy will bring to our association this year and years to come!

The other senior officers under Billy Ward include Vice President, Jerry Passman of Passman Homes located in Baton Rouge, Treasurer Peter Young of Pemar Properties in Metairie, Secretary Jim Fine of Duggan & Fine Construction Co., Inc. located in Bossier City and Associate Vice President Jo Ann Kostik, Jo Ann Kostik Interior Designer, LLC of Metairie.

We are very proud of our members who have won awards this past year.  Being recognized as the LHBA Builder of the Year for 2012 is Phil Hoffman of Hoffman Homes, LaPlace, Louisiana.  Phil is a member of the HBA of Greater New Orleans, 2009 LHBA President, NAHB State Representative for Louisiana, serves on numerous committees locally and nationally, amongst a list of other duties he has taken on as an involved member.  Our 2012 Associate of the Year Award winner is Kenny Elliott of Remax.  Kenny is a member of the St. Tammany HBA and was LHBA’s 2012 Associate Vice President.   He has served as a loyal Board member and committee chairman for several years on all levels of the HBAs.  Kenny has donated much of his time to LHBA at his own free will to help with IT integration and website designs.   The 2012 Remodeler of the Year, Peter Young, of Pemar Properties, LLC in Metairie, Louisiana is a member of the HBA of Greater New Orleans.  Being a past president of his local association and a long standing loyal director on LHBA’s Board of Directors amongst chairing numerous committees, made him the perfect candidate not only for this award but to run for the position of 2013 LHBA Treasurer and NAHB Build Pac Trustee for the next two years.

Other awards given by the National Association of Home Builders in 2012 include:

  • Jon Luther- Executive Officer of HBA of Greater New Orleans
